17. Question: I know an easier way to do problem X that I learned in high school. Can I do it that way instead?

Answer:  You can if you can prove all results/methods that you use in the course of answering the question "your way". Keep in mind that in taking a test your goal is not to get the "right answer" but rather to demonstrate to me that you understand the relevant course material.
