It would probably be a mistake to begin at the beginning and plow one's way through the Elements. Rather, one might treat the definitions as a cast of players, the postulates and common notions as the stage setting, and the propositions as the raw material of
drama. And you, as teacher, are just what you have always wanted to be: the director. As a demonstration, I have put together a two act play. The playbill is on the next page. And, as in many plays, in act one, scene one, we see a minor character, the equilateral triangle, draw our attention to the stage setting. |
