Hotels

There is a wide range of hotels in Greenville. If you wish to narrow your search, below is a list containing the two hotels closest to Furman, and two that are right in downtown Greenville (much of downtown Greenville has been restored in the last few years, and is worth a visit). I will stick to listing chain motels, as their quality is more consistent; you've stayed in one Holiday Inn, you've stayed in most of them.

In any case, when you make reservations, do mention that you are in town for a Furman event, as some hotels (and all of those listed below) have a Furman rate. One caveat: if the hotel is running a special rate, it may be lower than the Furman rate. So ask about the Furman rate, but don't necessarily insist upon it.

One other thing: Furman is situated in such a way that you can't really walk there from anywhere else (it's right off the highway). So you should generally plan to drive to Furman from wherever you are coming from.

Hyatt Regency
(864)-235-1234
(downtown Greenville, walking distance to restaurants, pubs, etc.; about a 15 minute drive to Furman)
(we have rooms blocked off here until March 9, at a rate of $85/night for a king or two double beds; please mention that you are in town for SERMON)

Sleep Inn
(864)-834-7040
(also in Travelers Rest; less than a five minute drive to Furman)
(we have ten double rooms blocked off here for SERMON until March 7, at a rate of $75/night; due to other Furman events occurring this weekend, the only rooms we were able to block off are technically smoking rooms, but according to the hotel, these can be rendered hospitable to nonsmokers)

Hampton Inn
(864)-834-5550
(nearest to Furman, although it is in Travelers Rest; less than a five minute drive to Furman)

Westin Poinsett
(864)-421-9700
(downtown Greenville; restored historic hotel, about a 15 minute drive to Furman)
